Sunlight

Sunlight

Into places where light rarely goes
sunlight filters in and steadily glows,
casting ethereal shadows all around
patterns of nature steadily compound

Resulting in dry earth looking bare
the resplendent sun beyond compare
underneath, the soil enriched with life
goodness unchecked, abundance rife

Undergrowth seldom touched by day
when visited by light, begins to sway
limbs casting off the mantle of night
opening boughs to nature’s delight

Springing to life when meeting the sun
all that was hidden can no longer run
from the rays of light penetrating all
as mother nature responds to the call

To life as life never has been before
the past is gone, relinquish the score
time to look ahead to all that is new
as the sun caresses the morning dew

Tending the grass with kisses of rain
nature’s solution a catharsis to pain
the nurturing sun, life’s giver of time
seducing all with innocence sublime

Lying on my back, my face to the sky
I look to the heavens and wonder why
this beauty before me is totally free
I close my eyes ~ thankful to be me
